Tracking and LogsTracking Settings

Tracking Settings

BaseMailer lets you track email activity and sync it back to your Airtable table. Once enabled, BaseMailer updates the columns you map with open, click, and unsubscribe events, so you can see engagement per record.

What you can track

  • Open: tracked when a recipient opens your email
  • Clicked: tracked when a recipient clicks a tracked link in your email
  • Unsubscribe: tracked when a recipient unsubscribes (based on the unsubscribe group used in the template)
  • Summary: a readable activity log stored in a long text field

Open Tracking Options

  1. Open any template in BaseMailer.
  2. Click Tracking Settings.
  3. Open Tracking Options.

You will see a Column mapping section where you can connect tracking events to Airtable columns.

Column mapping

In Column mapping, choose which Airtable columns BaseMailer should update for tracking.

Supported column types

  • Open, Clicked, Unsubscribe: select Checkbox columns
  • Summary: select a Long text column

Select existing columns

If you already have the required columns in your Airtable table, select them from the dropdowns.

Create columns instantly

If you do not have the required columns yet, click the + button next to the dropdown.

BaseMailer will:

  • Create the correct column type in your Airtable table
  • Select that column automatically by default

If you do not see a newly created column in the dropdown, click Refresh Columns and try again.

For the best setup, we recommend creating these columns in your table (BaseMailer can create them for you using the + button):

  • Opened (Checkbox)
  • Clicked (Checkbox)
  • Unsubscribed (Checkbox)
  • BM - Email Summary (Long text)

These columns make it easy to filter and report on engagement directly in Airtable views.

Summary column behavior

The Summary column stores a simple event log so you can quickly understand what happened for that record without opening logs.

Example events you may see:

  • opened by recipient
  • clicked by recipient
  • unsubscribed by recipient
